Too late probably - Track to Assignable out.

This is something I wish the MPC was capable of for years. Instead of just being able to assign pads to go to certain outs it would be a great bonus to assign separate tracks. It would make tracking a lot easier and intuitive.

Oh well, I guess I should have mentioned this about a year ago maybe we might have seen it in the OS.

This always puzzled me. Until my homie got his 2000 XL and I learned he only had 4 programs he could use @ 1 time. Then I realized "hey, since they only had so few programs to use and they had to overdub a lot, they just made the pads assignable to the outs cause there were so few tracks they could record any!" Well, atleast that's the best reasoning I could come up with on why they did that, aside from the people @ Akai being complete nitwitz! What do yall think?

i don't think so.

for mixing and external processing, it make a lot of sense to group output by frequencies and type of sound. thats probably why they did it that way. (and thats the way i use the outs).

on an external mixer, it would seem odd to have: out1: intro, out2: verse1, out3 chorus etc...

Yep, bad idea i think.

Why dont you just copy the program you are using on a track and assign it by gpe? Shouldnt take much more time.

i really wish this was possible, i think JJ could do it easily if we asked....

wait i do this all the time, just enter GPE, select WHOLE (or just A1-16 or whatever) and scroll to the appropriate individual out!

this literally takes the same amount of time as having entire tracks to separate outs - i definitely see the use of this (having your bass program all get tracked out to the same out is a no brainer) but you can do this soooo quickly using WHOLE in GPE!

yeah with the group editor assiging the outs as whole isn't so bad to use.

....but the three years before the JJ os came out i hated not being able track out by track rather than per pad. had me heated for awhile....

if you had the same PGM on two different tracks then assigning the PGM to an out would defeat the purpose of this topic

copy program? you've got 90 of them!

ya super easy.

specially with dudes bringing seqs and programs in from other pre-pro studios. most that i deal with are just stereo so its np for me to do quick assigns to the console.
