send midi program changes to electribe emx1

ok,
i did a search, and didn`t find anything useful, because there seems to be such a difference between the mpc1k (wich i own) and the others.
even the os handles it different, so i best post in this forum, cause thats the os i use.
well,
i am using a live-setup (minimal-techno) including my mpc1k wich is the midi-master sending out midi to
a) an electribe emx1 (as my synth)
b) an electribe es1 (as the hi-hat-machine)
c) a jomox x-base (drum machine)
d) a laptop running ableton live (some loops&FX)

as i have just two hands, it`s kind of hard to change all the patterns on the electribes and the jomox, and have my fingers at the mixer to do the fine-tuning, just in time before the pattern-changes happen.

so it may be best to change these patterns from the mpc.

i had a look at the manual, but didn`t find it,
so :
if someone has this setup where you change patterns in similar hardware, just point me in the right direction, please.

do you want to change the sounds (program change) or patterns?
you could connect your gear to the mpc, with midi in & out, go to step edit, hit record and switch whatever you want to be switched. it should send midi-data and now you can see what needs to be recorded to change it with your mpc.

Yes it does matter whether you want to change just patterns or both patterns and sounds, but that depends more on the external gear's midi implementation than the MPC.

For patterns, you have two options -- either record all of your step sequencer patterns into the MPC and trigger from there (if you do this, you won't need to send clock to the other boxes after the midi recording is done) OR you need to figure out how and if the other boxes can be made to change their patterns with midi program changes. Then you can either change them manually from the PC field, insert the event into the sequencer with step edit, or see if the ext box can send the PC command when you switch it and midi record it in realtime into the MPC where you want the switch to occur (first two are the easiest).

The Korgs shouldn't be a problem. I believe the Jomox will do it too but you have to place it in the right mode. You'll just have to check all those manuals...

the 'PC' field in the main screen is pgm change. i have an emx too ... its 'master' channel is 1, so on my mpc i have a midi track for channel 1 that has PC set to the pgm i want. i do it like this on its own track so i can mute the pgm change if needed.
