Mic-level and Line-level inputs

On an ASR-10 there is a switch in the back to switch the audio inputs to either Mic-level or to Line-level depending on what you are sampling, Mic-level making it possible to sample a microphone directly into the ASR without a pre-amp, and also a guitar (I think, though I never tried it with a guitar when I owned one)

I know you are all sick and tired of feature request threads, but I was just wondering if this is something that is possible at all on a software level of things, or would their have to be circuitry in place already inside of the MPC.

what are you asking? the mpc already has a built in pre amp, thats what the record level is for, adjust it accordingly.

in terms of guitar you need a D/I box, the pickups on a guitar are magnetic and sense vibrations in the strings, pick up a lo-z or D/I box at your local music store, it raises the instrument or guitar level to mic level which then would go into your mpc

D/I boxes are usually very cheaply priced unless you want outstanding quality, you can also build one yourself quite easily, do some research

also if your mic isnt working, its probbly a condensor mic that needs phantom power to power on, you can find a phantom power adapter @ local music store
