I'm not really sure about this- If the JJos makes any difference, but I'm trying to find out how the outs on the MPC 1000 are assignable. If you are using the 4 assignable outs, can you send another track to the stereo mains?

For example: Asgn. Out 1-4: Kick, Snare, Hat, Crash
Then on the Main Stereo Out: Record Sample

I'm using a 16 channel mixer and I want to be able to use as many channels as I can without the hassle of separately recording 4 tracks, then 4 more after that, and so on. Let me in on your methods.

I run my kicks and snares out of stereo out, sample out of assignable 1&2 and bass and highs on the 3&4 assignables.

I'm sure there is a way that it can be programmed in to allow the digital outs to be used at the same time as the stereo outs
if that could be done that would be dope as hell

8 outs

I've wondered about this alot, i'm sure they should be able to do this, and it would mean alot- doing as few passes as possible when tracking is crucial to keeping the feel of the mpc while tracking , the more passes, the more you can screw up the feel of the mpc when playing back from your DAW depending on your setup/latency/dodgy usb midi setup

Exactly! I'm asking because I've been looking into buying the MPC1000, but the small option for assignable outs has me waiting for something with me. The 2500 has eight, but I'm not really wanting to spend 2 grand for such a new and flaw ridden machine.

When you say "I run my kicks and snares out of stereo outs" means you've panned the kicks for example hard left, snares hard right? So can, these be assigned to track out at the same time as the 4 assignable outs?

awhile ago i remember JJ saying it wasn't possible.
the digital outs always send the same signal as the stereo analog outs.

Nice, so it's really more like 6 assignables?

yes. 6 assignables including panning the stereo outs. still results in several times going over yourself while tracking but that's chill time

god damn i haven't tracked out in a minute or two, to use appropriate terminology...been a while since i've made a "finished song"

I got it now. Only 4 assignables at a time. The stereo outs would have to be done seperately on a different pass. That's a pain. The whole reason I ask is because I'm sending my outs thru a mixer before they hit my DAW. I want to be able to mix the entire thing on the board - but it looks like this isn't going to be possible. I wanted to be able to mix levels and adjust gain on the board, but not possible I guess.

no, you should be able to use the two stereo outs at the same time as the individual outs giving you 6 total outputs at the same time on the mpc1000.

i usualy send all tracks to one output connected with computer and then use plugins on FLstudio, when i use same plugins on all tracks that makes sound more solid. if i want to use effects on one sound then i apply it on sample in Sound Forge.Sorry for my english :-))

will layman's terms suffice?

lets say you have mono samples on pads A01 - A06 and you want to record each one separately, but simultaneously. in Mixer L/OUT set pads A01 - A04 up to route to outputs 1 - 4, respectively. then, in Mixer L/PAN turn the volume down on all pads except for A05 and A06, hard pan A05 to the left, and hard pan A06 to the right.

this is how your outputs are now configured:

A01 -> Individual 1
A02 -> Individual 2
A03 -> Individual 3
A04 -> Individual 4
A05 -> Stereo L
A06 -> Stereo R

that's why the outputs on the 1000 is considered 4 + 2. the 2500 has 8 + 2, or 10 simultaneous outputs.
