it would be nice to burn cd's now... or save to the internal memory.
What about a password feature to just in case the MPC gets stolen (like my last one. Once a month, or week, or everyday (you set the limit). If your MP did get nabbed, at least you'd know it's not being used!

I really really really like this idea.
If they have the password protection thing on laptops we should have it on an mpc.

someone steals ure mpc they won't be able to use it period. make it so everytime it boots up u need a pw

a password is a lame idea. passwords are on pc's so that you can store personal information on them and have it be somewhat protected. it doesn't prevent someone from using that pc if it's been stolen because you can easily just reformat the computer.

you're not storing any personal information on the mpc so there's no need for a password. if i were you i'd be more worried about preventing people from stealing your mpc rather than preventing them from using it after it's been stolen. you think they'll give it back to you just because they can't use it? doubt it.

now if you're worried about the beats on your hard drive being jacked when your mpc is stolen, password protecting the mpc won't help because the hard drive can just be taken out and put into another mpc to access the data on it.

I'm still heavily campaigning for realtime swing via q link upon sequence playback...

I agree!

That's only for note repeat, won't work on a sequence (as dumb as that is).,

I want to be able to apply swing with the qlink (just like the other qlink menu options, you could apply this to note/ pad, track or program)in realtime, just like the note repeat feature, but to a sequence. This is something almost every soft and hardware sequencer has.

That is a little silly. I could see that being useful for certain things but yeah, doing the whole track or specific elements would we nice.

The OS isn't stored on the hard-drive.
My music is very personal to me.

yeah thats about the only thing missing in the JJ os
or atleast be able to copy swing/quant data separated from notedata between tracks.
even better would be to have the option to save/load groovetemplates.
and while at it fix the sloppy timeing once and for all and make it sample accurate.

good job taking quotes completely out of context.

1) i never said that the MPC's OS was stored on the hard-drive.

2) if your music is very personal to you, password protecting the OS will not help because someone can still take your hard drive and put it in their own mpc to get your beats, just like i said earlier.

so password protection is a waste.

actually, you know what, i hope that JJ does add a password option for you and that you end up using it but forget your password. then, you're either screwed and can never again use the mpc ever again, or there would have had to have been a backdoor to get around the password, thus undermining the whole purpose of the password.

Couldn't that happen with anything that has a password? It would only be an option. Personally, I think it would be a better feature than pong.

i hope that JJ does add a password option for you and that you end up using it but forget your password.
