I've heard of a few but are any of them out there compatable with the 1000 and do they work?

I disagree, lately I've been using Bluebox when I want to quickly load 64 samples to all of the pads, it's great for that...

For Mac you have Pad 187

i use mpc pgm maker, which is a bit more convenient, u can drag and drop
easier and pound the virtual pads for checking out the program.
it saves in mpc2000 format, but that works fine in the mpc1000.

GPE is in my opinion the fastest program building software, unless as dahkter said you're loading 64 samples all at once

otherwise any PC or MAC software is slowed by the usb process

i also use it for distributing the samples onto pads and banks.
after they're in the machine - its GPE as well.
;)

i recall it was taking more time settings pgms up with bluebox than having a template pgm on the CF and just load it up with samples.
and the sample preview among other things did'nt work at all times.
depends how you use it i guess. never needed to bulk 64 samples
