hey quick question for the people that use grid edit on a daily basis.
.
i feel like i must be really missing out by not taking advantage of grid edit,
but everytime i use it its seems clumsy and takes too many steps for me to edit
my drums.

in step edit i can just go the event i need to move and pretty much hit
move, put in the new value and i'm done. when i try to do this in grid edit i
feel like i'm doing too many steps between making sure the overdub is on,
making sure TC is on (even if i don't want my drums to be quantized
i do this just so i can get to my events quicker), and then arrowing over a
couple times to finally get to edit the time of the event.

anyone got any tips or want to to breakdown their workflow when they are
editing times in gridedit? cause everytime i do it i feel like it takes me ten
times longer than it would have if i just did it in step edit...

use midi grid edit instead of regular grid edit
turn TC off
zoom out so you can see all your bars at 1 time
record your performance
move to the note you want to edit
hit EDIT
move to the TIMING section
move your note/watch it move back and forth

overdub
bar [>] to go to the correct bar
shift + bar [>] several time to go to the correct event.

also try shift + up to go to the values at the top.
then shift + bar to change event while still staying in the field to edit (like velocity or time etc...). not 100% sure if it work like that consistently though (i remember it might leave the field for some setting, cant remember which one).

(and there is also a bug with shift + bar sometime, but non destructive)

truvc: thanks, somehow i missed shift + bar [>] . it definitely makes things a
bit more bearable as far as getting to each event if you aren't set in TC...

...but that midi grid edit???

WOW, that sh/t is GREAT!!! now i understand why you're so gung ho about it ant.
works SOOO MUCH BETTER than regular grid edit. i wish it would default to
going to midi grid edit mode instead of regular grid edit, since i will probalbly
never use normal grid edit again...

thanks truvc and antonym for breaking it down a bit.
midi grid edit is crazy!!
