i want to use it on one i'm borrowing, then transfer the license to one i'm buying. possible?
No.
When you purchase JJOS, you send the challenge code which is specific to the MPC you are using. JJ sends you the response which only works with that code. No one outside Akai or JJ know how this challenge is generated. Probably it is a unique serial number in the MPC cpu itself.
You will need to purchase a new license for the new MPC. There are no loan codes to unlock an MPC temporarily.
