Don't check the MPC internal disk with windows

Just because it was there, I tried checking the MPC internal hard disk with Windows XP. I used the auto fix option.

Don't do it!

It left the files OK, but the disk now thinks there is no free space. Seems like the disk structure is not exactly the same as a Windows FAT32 disk...

I've formated wiht JJ OS and only 2 hours left to finishing copying my audio library back to the MPC :shock:

The MPC2500DISK is FAT32 on my Windows XP, after being formated by JJ OS 5.38

PS I am being sarcastic with the spelling of 'formated' because JJ OS sez it is 'formating' the disk.

Fat32 but it's still not THE same Fat32, don't do it, why'd you do that anyway, the manual didn't tell you to do that. See what happens when you are overly curious and adventurous. :?

It was stated a few times on the boards a while back somewhere. It's fat32 but a few bytes in that mpc fat32 aren't the same.

I'm guessing that is probably very close to the same reasons people have problems using cf cards in windows xp with the loss of characters names longer than 8 digits.

If the partition is not exactly Windows FAT32, then I wonder if my rants about errors in copying files to the PC have anything to do with Akai bugs. Or if you can reliably copy files back and forwards to Windows?

I don't know about copying with 2500. on the 2kxl I had no problem, I formatted the cf card in windows, kept filenames 8 characters or less and I am fine. Same with my triton extreme, I've had no problems.
