On the mpc sync screen change it so that the mpc is master (turn slave to off and go to the right box, scroll to MTC Master, i think you may need machine control on as well), also on the transport in protools when receiving mtc you gotta enable that clock button on the far left to show pro tools its receiving external time code., search up in the mpc 4000 thread, they give you guides to set up MTC

Other than that a much easier way to get started is just use Midi Clock, turn the slave on the mpc to midi beat clock, and thats it, then in pro tools under midi choose midi beat clock and check your mpc, now whenever you play in pro tools your mpc will play

anyways, good luck, email me if you need more help

before you do any of the above though - you have to configure your AMS properly - in the screenshot you show of it - you ain't got the MPC connected to your Mbox -you'll get nowhere this way - the computer doesn't know they are conected - or in which manner, - you'll need to connect them....

not to crap all over jiggaman but ive always been told that the endprogram or equipment should be the master - in this case PT. or is it really not important? ive not yet needed to midi sync up like this. will do very soon tho

which means literally you connect them. Go back into that audio/midi properties screen on the mack, and click your mouse on the mbox. it will draw a "digital line" between the mpc and protools.

no feel free to shit all over him like 2 chicks 1 cup. PT LE cannot be the slave. Its not part of the program.

I'm not using PT here, but some apparent things: you have S/Pdif on both, mpc and the mbox, so make use of it, unless you really need the mixer to run some analog FX on the signal.
second, if the midi out from the mpc is not connected to the mbox, how do you want any start/stop signals to control the PT? and if PT is to be the master, make the MMC settings right (PT master).

cheers

I would always use analog, just a matter of pref.

With JJ os PT can indeed be made to slave to the MPC, - Detailed description here : -

http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=80943

It concerns the MPC 4000 - but since with JJ the 1000 now has MTC - the principals are the same - Tried it here and it does work...

Like Sir Stony correctly says though - this will be acheived by hooking up the MIDI out of the MPC to the MIDI in of the Mbox - MMC is however not needed - this simply sends out messages to tell an external machine (in this case PT) to start and stop etc, basic transport functions really - this does not acheive true sync - But check out that other post - it's all described in there....
