Hey guys. I have a problem with the Mpc2500 where it cut some of my samples short. Let's say i create a sequence with about 30 or more tracks, when i tried to add another track with a voice sample, it cuts the sample short instead of playing the whole thing. What you think is the problem?

the mpc2500 can only play 32 voices at the same time. a mono sample takes up 1 voice, and a stereo sample takes up 2 voices. so if you're playing a number of samples at the same time and the amount of voices they use are greater than 32, then the mpc is going to cut some of the sounds off.

think of it like this... you only have ten fingers, so you can only play 10 keys on a piano at the same time (assuming you're not hitting two keys with one finger). if you want to play another key, you have to stop playing one of the first 10 keys.

Hey Mike thanks a lot buddy. I will back check and see if that's really the case. If am not mistaken, i think i create a sequence with less than 32 voices and it still cut samples short. As i said i will back check and keep you informed of my situation.
Thanks again.

this is the weekly question, has simple answer

1 - if you are using stereo samples, does it NEED to be in stereo
2 - are any of your samples overlapping each other/themselves? if so, do they need to?
3 - go to your drum program and turn every sample to MONOPHONIC playback so that they cut themselves off if they play overtop each other.

and your polyphony mismanagement has been taken care of.
