What does the release amount do? Its after the sliced samples screen where you create a new program.

the 'tails' are quite mad i think,
and cos im into the dirty end of stuff i tend to throw it right up 100, its a kind of crude reverbed/sample-smear of the end of each slice, i think its intended to give the chopped samples a bit of 'air' at the release stage - for a more authentic feel when spreading the bits out at slower tempo's etc..

i find it a characteristic of the JJ OS only...and therefore use it all the time, cos no other bit of gear i have does this - like this, especially when im using JJ patched Phrases. but its all a matter of taste really innit ANT?.

It is a bit annoying that after you select the Release value there is no way to preview/undo. If you set the Release too short or long then you have to rechop your sample.

Maybe I am missing something and there is a way around this.

nope, i think ur right....but just experiment first - with a sound u know well, see what it does, then mentally apply it to the working practice.

I personally like the sound of the 'tail' in certain situations when needed.
I prefer it to what Recycle's similar stretch function does to the audio anyway.

yeah it's better than recycle

the reason i don't like it is if the part of the sample from which the mpc makes the tail has a pop, scratch, or other high treble noise in it, that noise is then sststtstrrttreetetched as well
