(1) The chop shop is dope, but I find it easier to simply highlight and extract what I need. A soft button (like the "TOPAD" button after you sample) would be great in the extract window. Currently, you extract, then you have to go into the program window to assign it.
(2) I use the timestretch option a lot, but it was MUCH simpler to use on the XL. Simply enter how much you want to lengthen or shorten and that was it. Need a sample 10% shorter, simply put 90% and your done. The tempo is great for longer samples.., but if I want to stretch a really short vocal phrase..lets say a person saying "hey" then finding the tempo isn't really necessary.. The option to use both (tempo and percentage) would be great. I don't think the addition of stretch options like on the XL (male vocal, female etc) is needed. Just stretch it. The 2500/1000 has a much faster processor than the XL's so we don't have to wait a week to stretch samples.
Real time timestretching would be great, but the manual way will work for me.
(3) Ok, so I select my sample (few seconds long) highlight an area and try to timestretch it. The result is that it stretches the entire sample up to the point where the stretching begins. If your sample is 12345, and you try to highlight only "3" the result would be 345 playing faster or slower, but I really wanted 12thhrree45. I can do it manually by chopping it tho.
(3) one of the nice things about the fx in the XL was that is was SIMPLE to use. The 2500/1000 isn't complicated, but there's too much moving around. First I have to select fx 1 or 2 in the mixer window, then go into the effects area, select it, then go back into the mixer window to apply the amount of fx.. blah... And what if I only want an effect without the main volume. I used to be able to do all this on my XL and record my mixer/effects changes from the same window by simply selecting to record my mix changes, hitting record, and moving the dial while the sequencer is playing.
Ok I'm done.. lets make some beats.
