JJOS vs S950?

I've been using a 1000 for a while now and like a lot of you i want to crunch up my sounds a bit. I was thinking of getting something like an S950 but heard that on the JJOS you can change the sample bit to 8-12? I've been looking around but couldn't see this for definite?! Also, i see there's a few different versions of the JJOS...is this feature on all of them or only some?

You can change the bit rate, but only in the pay version (4.xx). But the effect is not that great in my opinion. Just download the free trial version of 4.xx and judge for yourself (it's got all the function of the full version, except you can't save).

it's a legitimate, true to life bit quantisation.
the thing that would make it better is wet/dry control, which i believe could happen in the future.

I think probably the best thing to do is try it and see what i think. I can see on the JJ site you can download version 3.8 for free but it doesn't say how you install it? Anyone help with this?

You can also download 4.93 for free, you just can't save unless you buy a password.
3.08 doesn't have bit reduction, I think.

I think you're right man! Just put 3.08 on and i can't find it in the trim window!

When you say you can't save, i take it you mean whatever you're doing? So when the machine is turned off you'd lose whatever you'd been working on?

Exactly.
I suggest this: Install 4.93, try it out, if you like it, buy it for $30, if not, just reinstall Akai 2.11 or JJ 3.08 (I'd recommend JJ, since it's way better -> less bugs, more features).
