hey, i know its not gonna happen, but i dream of one last fix for os1, where jj really treats the os as a final leap away from akai os, where he takes further the practice of enhancing the mpc......its a (mbe) simple request that the visual side of things are taken to their optimum, whereas akai wasted space with stupidly wide fonts and larger than necessary spaces for titles etc.
i with jj would squeeze every pixel for what its worth and waste nothing of the lcd.
eg a: the Fkeys are little rectangles with all sides inked in,theres 4 horizontal levels of pixels available that arent used to any great effect, they could just be real tab-like and fit with the h/ware Fkeys more closely to the bottom of the screen...
b: theres a useless drop shadow in the track mutes page where the unnecessary box around the grid is....if a few of these tings were trimmed out finally - we'd have more room for smaller fonts (about the size of the 5pxl 'mute' down in the left corner) , i imagine that with these smaller fonts we could then have longer than (a piddly) 9 letter titles space in each box,and fit in double-row tracknames. still very legible.
there's prolly many more instances of this kind of optimisation, but i think after jj's broke the wakai os up, this is the last thing to get squeezed out.....and i think they could go that lil bit further and make it finally very very powerfull, with only a few tweaks in the lcd representation.
