I just don't see the excitement on this forum for OS 2 like I did for 4.xx and I'm trying to figure out why that is.

it's too early to be judging os 2. it's a work in progress not even out of beta.
that said, it's off to a pretty strong start. and keep in mind JJ's gonna be adding new features up until march before he even starts taking requests, so he's obviously got a lot planned to add to it.

Maybe if it didn't cost another 39 dollars, people would be more excited about it. JJ think he slick offering a "new" os instead of a free upgrade

I have an mpc60, an s950 and an Emax and what am I using (at the moment)???:
the 1000, just because it's all in one box and it's so convenient to use. Maybe, just maybe the other stuff sounds better and sometimes the machine has some quirks but it's nice being able to load up your fav drum programs and 10 instrument programs, grab a mic, plug in a guitar, arm an audio track and off you go. All in one box with good timing. Then I can take it anywhere to mix or rehearse. I really don't mind paying £20 for the OS (I admit the dollar is cheap here right now). Instruments, freely assignable tracks to midi/drum/audio, portamento, grid / waveform view on main screen... all worth it...
The ONLY thing I am missing is velocity switchable layers in the instruments and andjustable Filter per keygroup, but then again I could always make up drum templates that way...

i would of paid the total(£os1 + £os2) amount for just os1 had i known what it was gonna be capable of. I'm happy with Os 2 so far and it will get even better: "MIDI in to q link is under a plan"

I tried it, and i just ended up being anoyed.. I pretty familiar with os1 and i don't think i could gain much from shifting over to os2... Maybe some day. I'm just sad that OS1 doesn't get updated as frequently anymore.

haha but balls i have to say you've historically been resistant to change in general. but that's cool. in tons of ways that's me, too. os1's a hell of a system, the best songs i've made are in os1. i am going to have an interesting next couple months musically as i see how os2's features influence how i make my beats because it is change, after all.

i am completly amazed by os2 as it gives me finally superbe possibilities to make great beats , adsr rocks,
n.destr,chopps,
workflow is more intelligent, with track mixx, i would have been given 300 for this new os! remember also that
there is no more eprom
890k limitations....!
the combination of Beta testers and compilers assures great os evolutions in the future,
best os support i ever had for a sampler and as it s in my studio the mostimportant basixx beat creation tool....pc sucks(beatwise), and the 808 is covered with more and more dust.....

Yeah, i'm just in a place right now where i can't be bothered by new ways if doing things. I'm pro new features ofcourse, but OS2 is just too different for me right now. I would've preferred the old (JJ OS1) GUI with ADSR, NDC etc. But i guess that it just couldnt be like that... I might jump the wagon at some point though.
