I was really hoping it would have somehow worked better with the cpu in a vst plug in/ hardware unit.. Oh well, please JJ rip the code for the 960 ppq please and make it work in your new JJOS2 FOR OUR 2500's/1000's Thats all I want ...

I just saw the video with the 5000 and I'm really disappointed. Akai just seems to be going in the wrong direction with their products. I really dont see them being around in about 5 to 10 years.
I would have liked to see them improve the sampling capabilities, and added improved MPC-Computer integration instead of them offering a useless mixer and a synth.
With all the features possible in programs like cubase, protools, and logic why would they even waste space on the mpc by offering an "upgraded" mixing feature that cant compete. Why not try something new like supporting .rex files, or making it polyphonic.
Theres no real reason to upgrade to a 5000 if you own a 2500 or even a 1000 with the JJOS. Might as well just buy a real synth with some keys. Im tired of Akai slapping on some extra knobs, sliders, and outputs with a bigger number.
The 5000 is too advanced for a beginner, and it doesnt offer any real OS improvements over the 2500 or the 1000 that JJ hasn't. So who is their target audience with this?
....well thats the end of my rant lol

i think you may have mis-spoke. there is no mpc that isn't polyphonic. maybe you're just recommending they up the polyphony?

I'm with you on the pc integration. It would've been great if it worked as a plugin to save cpu for sampling/fx etc. I was pretty hyped on it when I first saw it, but it's really not that impressive on closer inspection. It could've been a huge leap forward, instead it's a step forward. I get the feeling this will be their last mpc... the retail price alone is gonna hurt them a lot - think of the beautiful stuff you can get for $3500!

Tell me about it.I owned the 4000,but it had alot of bugs too many for my personal taste and Akai just gave up on all of us who bought it.Weak support I hope very few people buy this to send there punk asses a message! I hope they go in the hole and lose ton's of money with this! LOL they will..
If JJ can rip that 960 ppq and put in the new OS2 for the 2500 and 1000's..It will be over for a 5000.Hard disk's lol I can get a terabyte for like $200.00
