I think they released the jj os to see what the customers really wanted. Not only do they make money off of it but if they screwed up they wouldn't have to worry about credibility. It's just one big conspiracy.

Would be nice if JJ could do the same pad mute (better than my track split feature request) the quantize strengh and i don't think it's possible but 1/64 and 960ppn would be awesome.

I've read the 5000 manual and i guess the first buyers would have to fight against that machine. Chop looks like old akai os one, seems there's no global edit system and all that JJ workflow improvement. I hope the timestrech and the pitchshift would be usable. Seems there is also an effect trying to reproduce old 80's samplers lol I'm curious to hear that.

i've been checking the mpc5000's manual, and a lot of the things that JJ is putting in OS2 is in the mpc5000...

aftertouch
ADSR
track mixer
swing strength (not sure if that's in JJ OS2, but i know people asked for it)
track mute groups (again, not sure if it's in JJ OS2, but saw people ask for it)

i'm actually surprised. definitely leads you to believe that JJ is still working for Akai, or at least maybe he was there when they were brainstorming about the 5000.

but the 5000 has step recording from the main page which i've been asking for. it also has direct recording like the 2500, and up to 64 continuous sample tracks. as i've always said, direct record + continuous sample tracks is much better than JJ audio tracks.

Multitimbrality. 960 ppq, but i doubt the cpu can handle it.

you can acces a kind of track mute grouping...with recordable track mute (those events are recorded on the track you choose...)

what he means is set a group of tracks to one pad to be muted/unmuted simultaneously in the track mute screen.

I suggested this in the feature requests for OS2 before and was going to come in this thread to do the same until I saw it already had been

I see alot of improvements in the 5000 os. The filters and Effects seem to have gotten some major improvements. Maybee the first really good sounding filters in mpc history (excluding the 4000)?
but what i don't gett is why they droped all of the advanced sample editing/programm functions that were in the mpc 4000. I talk about loop point crossing modes, various loop modes (even jj os 1 can do this), multiple loop points, akai sample format imort (god damn it's their own format!), non destructive chopping... etc....
why just a phrase sampler and not a full sampler? I thought that this is their atempt to go for a all in one machine.... or do they give up against kontakt, exs and the other softsamplers....
I don't know... , Synth, Harddiskrecorder, Why not a include freaking sampler that can read multi sample programms? This would have made the package complete for me....
But well, I guess Akai gave up on this years ago when they droped the 2500....

I'd love to see quantise strength implemented in JJ os.
