Your not supposed to open it with your pc. You load it on to your mpc. It's called an operating system.

yeah, I know..
I have a mac.. and when I click it, unlike the OS1 file which will automatically download as a .bn file, OS2 will open as a text document..
I can save this text file, but should I use it somehow in my mpc?

Try a different browser to DL it from.

Also, if the file comes in as a QUICKTIME looking file, that will load into the MPC also.

Something I noticed about the OS2 download is that the link does not appear to be direct (unlike OS1). When I try to use "save file as" (so I can send it directly to my MPC1000 OS folder instead of the default desktop location) I also get the weird text file thing. If I just click on it and let it go to the default directory, the download works fine.

Well if you can use firefox on a mac then download a plug in called downloadThemAll. I guess instead of it opening automatically you can save it. Something to try I guess.

The text file is not the OS, it's some kind of meta link. You want the .os2 file.

Did anybody figure this out? I'm downloading on a mac running safari and it worked fine for 4.98. I have 4.98 installed and the password in it. If I click the link to download the os2 file the browser page reloads as a huge text file. If I choose "download linked file" it saves it as "mpc1000_jv084.os2.txt" and when copied to my flash card it does not appear on the load screen. I looked at the screen shots on the jj site and saw that the file should end as "os2" so I tried just renaming it by deleting the ".txt" at the end and still the same thing happens, the mpc won't recognize it. So according to arondbeats if I download and install firefox and then this downloadThemAll plugin it will work? Anyone confirm this? Does a brother really have to go trough all that just to properly download this tiny 928kb file?

Just try "Download linked file" and then "Get Info" (CMD+I) on that downloaded file and remove that .txt at the end. OS X then says: use .os2 or keep .txt, just click use .os2. Then it should show in mpc.

Thanks for helping a brother out. Had no idear that changing the name in the info window was different than changing it by clicking on the file name in the finder... but it works. Thanks again!

ok MAC USERS, u need a browser like Firefox,
it seems better at deciding what type files are.
it will download it ok, as opposed to safari that just opens the file in a window as text....
it appears as an mpeg file to mac osx , but when put on the cf card in the mpc and loaded its just fine.

Has anyone had a problem getting a password for the OS 2 update. I have not received any info from JJ. I have even checked my spam/bulk mail folders and there is nothing.
Do I need to clear this up by contacting JJ by email? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-
