Effects in the 2500 are they hardware or software driven? , if so is there a chance that the JJ OS will improve on and ADD new effects? , maybe a different compressor on top of the original? , more slots for effects per pad/track? are the effects attatched to pads or tracks in this OS? , just asking as I dont have the JJ OS , but am seriously thinking of switching

dont know but as far as i know he got rid of a filter and some of that stuff to make space for other componets of the new OS2..i might be wrong cause my english is not the best, but thats how i got it..cheers

effects are software driven, and not my cup of tea
i suggest leaving your stuff dry til daw, maybe utilizing internal effects as a cheap and quick gage for what you'll be doing later with vsts and dx effects

or using the 8 outs, a mixer, and external effects units

i haven't heard of any plans to do anything to the effects code. the demand, luckily, is low compared to additions to the sequencing power of these 2 mpcs. also, realtime effects use a lot of CPU, and if you have a busy sequence and a lot of heavy fx use, you'll notice a decrease in timing accuracy/looping accuracy.

besides the effects from the mpc are definatly not studio standart, if you looking for some real sh!t go outbound anyway..

I'm not looking for more effects, just to be able to use more on my outputs. I make more electronic sort of stuff and being able to use more effect on my outputs would be great.

It's no biggie, but sometimes it's nice to sequence basically how it's gonna sound. Either way, JJ rocks and I'm sure he'll bring the heat.

you can't use effects on your individual outs, only your stereo outs
and you can only use 2 effects at 1 time.

You need to get an MPC 5000 to use effects on your individual outs...

Well there you go - that'd be a nice feature to add then. I guess I'll run the stuff I want effects on digitally and then use the outs for dry stuff. I'd love to see more done with the qlinks personally. Maybe an option to have different banks of q data? I'm happy to wait though.

I can't see a 2500 on my horizon. As much as I love the 2500, I'm not a fan of the build quality. I can live with it on the 2500, but for the cheddar they want for the 5000 they can forget about it.

Anyway, I think that's off topic enough!

So the MPC 2500 is built to a less standard than the MPC 2000 XL?

You build it: don't use a question, but an exclamation mark! :D
