i've just downloaded the bin file from the jj site
and loaded it
reseted the machine
and now it says
MPC1000 BootBlock ver:1.03
boot on emergency mode
a compactflash card was detected
a format cannot be recognized
system halt

what can i do now?

it seems like it isn't recognizing the file format... so i'm gonna guess that you're trying to install the OS2. that won't work. you need to install OS1 first. make sure the OS1 .BIN file is on your flashcard when you turn it on holding down WINDOW... this should work. if you've never used JJ OS before, i wouldn't even mess with OS2... it's still in development and is buggy.

i forgot to tell that i never used the flash card

it's not working
and the os is in the hard disk

i wanted to test the 4.99
if got that correct, it's the first os and not the second

try loading the BIN file from the LOAD screen of the regular OS instead and see if you can replace your OS that way.

I think I did see a comment on here once saying that it was possible to update from the Akai OS load screen by selecting the file and pressing "DO IT" but I've never tried this and had previously thought that was only possible with the JJOS.
Give it a try and let us know.

Otherwise, you have to use the old WINDOW-button-on-powerup method, and the only way for that to work is to have the single .bin update file loaded onto the root of the compact flash drive. It will not work from the hard drive. That method will also not work for JJOS2, which can only be loaded from the most recent versions of the JJ OS1 load screen.

yep, get the CF Card, plug it into your MPC, when you connect your MPC using the USB Cable, the computer will see the CF Card and let you copy to and from using the computer.

If you have a Hard Drive installed, be sure to choose the Card and not HD when connecting to the computer... Otherwise you will be copying to the wrong place
