os problem

my mpc is in bootlock
i went to but a cf card and a card reader, transferd the os file and it's saying
"A correct OS file wasn't found. system halt"

what's the problem?

What os are you trying to use? 1 or 2?

hmmmm if ur cool with the dudes at guitar center or sam ashe.....try bringing ur flash card and a usb cable in...and see if they'll let u go online with one of the demo mpc's and reload the os

Once I had the same problem with OS1 (version 4.8x).
After installing it didnt boot up, only text with error-messages.
I got myself a cardreader and loaded a few versions from my computer to choose from. It worked with os1 but unfortunantly threre is only the newest Version of 3.0x available on JJs site. Maybe you can manage to get an older version of 3.0x. Or try installing OS 4.9x, then install 3.08 again.

Im not shure if I still have an older version of OS 3.0x (3.07?), but i can have a look if you want to try it. Just send a PM.

try also checking to see what format the dl is in, i couldnt use Safari to dl JJOS2 because it kept dling like a txt file. I had to use my girls PC internet explorer and it turned out fine.

just a tip for mac downloads!

If you dl a file from safari and it looks like this "mpc1000_jv4.98.bin.txt"
just right click and rename the file to "mpc1000_jv4.98.bin"
(removing the .txt)
the mac will ask if you want to keep the .txt or use the .bin keep the .bin and
there you go its done! no need to dl on pc!

cause even when the card is empy it says the same thing

thats because by starting the os transfer...you've already erased the old os......i remember when i 1st ever upgraded my os....i was watching the screen and saw the word erased....and i was like oh shit it just erased all my beats....so i pressed cancel.......i kept getting that same message......so now...i was locked out of my mpc....after like 2 days of trying to find a way around it...i said **** it and inserted the card in and let it upload....it meant it was erasing the OLD os so it can install the NEW os....not my beats....so what happened is u prolly already erased the old os and something went wrong half way through the procedure. if anything...switch back to the akai 2.11 for a second. laways have a backup flash card (like the 32mb one that comes with it) with an os in it. I have every os version in my computer...and one in my flash card for just this reason. one other question though....why did u have a card reader to begin with if u have a mpc1000? is it possible u have a 2000xl and you're tryna install the wrong os?

Does the USB flash transfer function on this MPC work?

Is the reason you used an external flash reader to download the OS file onto flash because the MPC CF reader doesn't work?

That will definitely put a snag in your update plans.

i never used the card slot
i was updating from jj free os to akai 2.11
and i wanted to swith to jj like before
i tried to load it from the load screen
and when i reseted the mpc it said that bootlock shit
now the os is not starting, that is the reason why i bought the CF card reader
cause it was the only way to get file os file on the memory card

nobody knows the answer?

could i maybe send the mpc to vst(i'm not from the usa) and they'll fix it?
