Something that's always bugged me when using my 2500 is that there is no way to use the generous number of outputs as sends. For example, I'm writing a beat and I want a little reverb on the snare. I should be able to use any of the extra outputs as a send bus to my favourite reverb unit (no I don't want to use the crappy Akai verb!).

It would be simple enough to integrate into the Program Editor. On the OUTPUT page, instead of just FX1 & FX2 as FX selections, you could also have output selections as mono or stereo pairs. Then your send level would work as normal, but just route the signal to the extra outputs.

Maybe it's already possible in OS2 (I can't check out OS2 yet)? If not, it jolly well should be. Anyone agree? 8)

YES agreed!!!

I would def use this function! at the moment i have to send out a sample from the extra outs and use the mix control in my outboard fx!
Please send the request to JJ!

Peace!

i like this idea, very cool
esp for folks lucky enough to have more than 4 assignable outs
unfortunately i think i remember reading from jj that effects are simply not hardwired to go to the assignable outs. it's been that way since day 1...

meanwhile if you're content to go the non-software route, you could always just make a duplicate track for that particular input in your DAW app and then use 1 of the 2 tracks as a reverb send...i know it's not the same thing but it's nice to have SOME way of doing it.

Nym, I think you may have misunderstood what Rozzer was suggesting.
What he was mentioning about having effects send/return was not referring to the 1k's internal effects, but using the MPC and external effects, having it set up like the bus of a mixing console. The MPC60 or 3000 has effects send/return I/O's. I forget which one off hand. Maybe both. It's been a while since I've used either of those models.

Yeah I like this idea, in fact I was just thinking about how it would be much cooler to do something like this and then completely toss the processor cycle sucking and mediocre at best internal effect engine to free up more code space for really cool features that I would actually use.

oh yeah you're completely right
i'd read it wrong the first time, then saw external and understood
then forgot and misunderstood again

complicated evening, i fell 2 times on the ice today so i blame that...

yeah cool idea.
... id like the internal delays and reverbs to have wet/dry settings with the possiblity of a 100% wet mix too. This'd be useful to me in some situations.

I think more often the MPC gets used as a self contained unit. Alot of people can't afford external effects boxes and so features like this get overlooked. For me it seems kind of essential.

If I can get a little more support in this thread I'll contact JJ and direct him towards it.

I yeah, just like having an external mixer, instead, the mpc outs act as sends and returns. Neat idea, if you don't need an external mixer
