Problems syncing mpc to reaper

Ok apologies to ask this question cause i know it's a simple one that's been covered a million times before, but am a bit stuck at the moment ...am just trying to sync me MPC 1000 (JJ0S1) to Reaper with Midi Clock:

-have set MPC sync in to Port 1 (Slave) (Receive MMC On)
-in Reaper preferences have enabled Firepod Midi In/Out + send clock
-have set Reaper external sync to MTC Firepod Midi In
-have checked Midi cables etc...

...however, it doesn't seem to be working at all... (altho I can get it working in other DAWs e.g. Cubase)... anyone got any ideas...? or is there something really obvious I've missed out...?

if you are trying to have reaper be the master, and the 1000 be the slave
everything you did seems right, except...

in the mpc:
turn receive mmc to off

in reaper:
turn off external synchronization

at least this is how i have mine setup.

only other obvious suggestion i can make is to make sure you don't have the 1000 set on a blank sequence (like when you first turn it on if nothing loads up automatically. if its a blank sequence then it won't play...
