I know that this may seem easy... but I bought my MPC used and have no manual... I downloaded the PDF, but then I also use JJOS...

Anyway... I have a sample... but I want to filter out the drums on the sample... and just have the melody the best I can...

Other than high pass, low bass filters, etc... What is the most effective way to filter out the drums as best as possible??

Thanks peeps.

I look for something to take drums away before I sample. I have a numark mixer that will high and low the ish out my stuff and then I sample. That's how I have gotten by and if I need more then I look into the MPC for results.

Why do you want to take the drums out anyway?

Just run a HP filter on the sample and this will eliminate (or greatly reduce) the low end muddiness of the kick. now you'll just have the hats and the highs of the snare.

After you layer your own drums over it you should be good to go. Often times the original drums in a sample layered with your own drums will come out sounding much better and more organic.

Just leave them in.

yea that is true... but sometimes the drums are just way to loud... and i sometimes will totally flip the whole sample sequence... i dont just loop it outright... but i know what u r saying...

thanks guys... I will mess with the mixer a bit, and then run some filters on the MPC

I appreciate the feedback!
