whats up. I've had my MPC for about a year now with the AKAI o/s and I think I'm ready to upgrade to latest verson of jj o/s 1 (4.99 I think) Before I do I wanna ask a few questions

Can all previous programs/samples/sequences from AKAI o/s be used in jj's?
I have 120 gig h/d thats half full do I have to reformat? and if so will I loose all data? reformat cf card too?
Does jj's midi work better that og AKAI o/s? (having a hard time syncing with daw in the AKAI o/s)

Thanks

actually da latest one is OS2 ver 1.01

and this is how it works

OS1
3.08 ( free) - more features than akai OS
4.99b ( $30) - adds a lot more features to 3.08 , one word sick

OS2 ( a whole new approach to the jjos and like a revamped ver with way m0re features)
1.01 ( an extra $39 on top of 4.99b's $30) - one word SICK with capital letters

yes, all of your otha beats will load up fine ( maybe some slight volume adjustment will be needed)

yes, you will have to reformat ur hd so all the bugs from da Akai OS wont come back to hunt you
and you shouldn't have to lose everything, just bak it up to a computer first ( same goes with da Cf)

midi is pretty much tha same when it comes to signal and response, except now u got 10001 new features, and now you got MTC and MMC

so to conclude all this i suggest you just upgrade all the way to OS2
you'll be glad you did

ps.: you could have found all this information on your own very easily but i just feel generous lol

there will be some differences, as a lot has changed
again, from os1 to os2, depending on how you built/used your progs, you'll see a difference.

between os1 and 2, i basically dropped all my old projects or "flash-finished" them so i could move on to the superior os2. to an extent it was a shame since i had some good stuff, but i wanted to get to testin

and, of course, if i ever want to i could just boot 1 instead of 2 to bring some of that stuff back
