I have an artist who is interested in some music. I told them I do not have the ability to bounce tracks via cubase, protools. How and what is the best way to send the beat to him? If they do not own an akai it's pretty useless isn't, cause without an akai you can't open up the programs? School me on this one, cause I used to be able to bounce each track individually with my old system. He wants each track by its self. What can i do?

So you do or you don't have a PC running Cubase or Pro Tools? If you don't I would at least invest in a Pro Tools Mbox2 Mini set-up. That way you can easily send tracks to people.

If you only have an MPC, the best bet would be to resample (sample the MPCs outputs) your beatz to a stereo file which of course is not individual tracks. You can simply resample each track individually and send them, which will leave it to the artist to import the files into his DAW and rebuild the track....less than ideal I would say.

are there any automated track mutes?

By PROPHECYSOUNDS Sat Mar 29, 2008 1:12 am
yes, there are mutes within the song. But I can re do it so that there arent if that will be a problem.

It appears that you really don't want a real answer to your question. It doesn't matter what OS you are using or whether you have any track mutes. You are still faced with the sample problem. Without having a DAW or the other guy having an MPC with the same OS...you are stuck with doing what I suggested.

Good luck.

unless he spends a bit of time soloing tracks and resampling the main outs.

Yea, that's what I do. Then I chop them into loops and sequence them in Acid. This is the very reason why I suggest the ability to render each track rather than resample so the start point is similar. Then I could easily throw it into Acid and sequence it however. The way it is now, I have to rediscover where each track is (that has it's first sound later in the loop) relative to the others that have a sound at the beginning of the loop. It works, but it's more work than is necessary, unless rendering tracks is an impossibility.

^ of course it does matter. it will determine the best way for you to do what you want to do given your situation. especially when it appears that there was a change in track muting specification in between os 4.71, which Prophecy is using, and the current 4.99B.

that being said, prophecy, i if there were no track mutes, the easiest way to do this with os1 w/ a song is to go through each seq and DELETE ALL NOTES on MUTED tracks so that it the song CONVERTS TO SEQUENCE without muting conflictions between sequences. unfortunately this is trickier with with recorded track mutes since they're an actual part of the song and it becomes difficult to tell them apart from simply MUTED tracks

why, do you ask, should i convert the sequences to a song? makes it way easier to resample

so here's what i advise you do, to avoid getting conflicted MUTED/AUTOMATED MUTE issues. please note that i tried this on 4.99B and it worked--but specification changed somewhere along the lines. odds are that it'll work though.

go through your sequences and observe your mutes, as they come and go. here's the important part: FOR TRACKS THAT STAY MUTED THE WHOLE TIME, hit ERASE and DELETE all NOTES. leave the track, though, don't delete the TRACK. do this for all sequences, but make sure you're only deleting notes on tracks that are muted the WHOLE WAY THRU the sequence - not ones that have recorded track mutes.

then convert this to a song, and play it back. make sure it worked: make sure that there are no weird mutings or missed "mute on/mute offs"
like i said, this worked on 4.99B.

now, solo individual tracks, and resample one at a time. if you have multiple sounds on a single track that need to be separated, you'll have to resample X times on that track. save the resamples one at a time (they should be the full length of your song) and do it again and again til you have everything

lengthy process, for sure. it's lengthy even if you have a sound interface, but not nearly as tiresome as the way i just described. still, it's the only way to do this via resampling.

your dude better thank you for this haha

This is actually a really good idea. Make it happen #1..I mean JJ.
