Pad Sensitivity Question

Hi everyone i'm new to the forum (I have been lurking for a while).

I own an MPC1000 (a black one) and I think it has the new pads although i'm not too sure how to check.

I have purchased the manual from this site (it's excellent) and have recently upgraded to jj OS2. I'm really quite happy with the MPC but OS2 seems to make the pads very quiet. I have altered the sensitivity but still I really have to whack the pads (very hard) to get full velocity.
I know I could just use the full level button but i would like a little more control. Am i doing something wrong?

Sorry if this is a total noob question but I have searched for an answer.

Yeah I Had a go at that but don't seem to be able to make it sensitive enough. just wondered if i was doing it wrong!!

Go to bottom left or bottom right pad and pinch the corner of the pad, if you can pull the edge of the pad out of the case a little, you have the new pads, you can easily poke it back in.

Yeah I can pull it out easily and the pads feel nice and soft. I jUst dont seem to be able to get full volume without punching them really hard!

Is it the perceived level of your sounds or the actual velocity read out when you hit the pad? check in the pad sensitivity screen mode and pad 10 and see what registers.I have my sensitivity quite high( 22or 23 i think).

If this gives readouts of 127 it could be your mixer settings(pad mixer and track mixer) effecting the volume of the pads, and not the pads themselves. Ive noticed that if your trackmixer is set to "track" rather than "pgm" one quiet pad in the pad mixer will make all the rest quiet.

Cool, thanks for all your help. I've just had another look at the sensitivity setup screen and realised i was adjusting the wrong thing . Turned it up to 21 and it seems totally spot on. Thanks for the help.

regarding new pads: i just came up with an amazingly simple solution to make the mpc1000 pad fixed pads = the touch-sensitivity of Korg Padkontrol...

more on that later.

Well thats definitely much easier to play now. Next i have to finish the MPC tutor manual whilst using os2. Quite a challenge!

I'm sure i'll have millions more questions for you guys, although by the look of things most of them have been answered.
