hey forum,
i bought os2 only seconds before the price went up, so i'm moving all my pgms and seqs to os2 right now.
now that i get into it i discover some really great features and some i hope jj will keep working on.
here are my thoughts about the new os:

track mixer:
i like it! need to get used to it, but a daw-styled mixer is great!
but at the moment it's not very usefull to me:
if i record 2 or 3 hihats, set pan and fx and then go to track mixer. i want to keep my pan and fx settings (pgm-mode), but i can't change the track-velocity either, because to set track-velocity, i need to switch to track-mode. so both, the sample-mixer and the track-mixer, won't let me record a track, pan it, set fx and then change the track-level.
or do i miss something?

main screen:
i still don't like how track and pgm are placed on main screen. i switch through my track all the time, but once i set the pgm, i don't really touch that anymore. so why did jj put the pgm right in the middle of the screen, where the track used to be in os1?
maybe i just need to keep working with it, so i'll get used to it...

plus 'click' and 't.c.' should be exchanged asap. that was a great idea, nym(?)!

gpe:
if i hit 'window' in gpe, so i can change the pads amp, filter, pitch etc, i don't get why jj put the 'close' button right in the middle between all the other buttons. he should keep the order of gpe!
if we have "amp - pitch - filter - lfo - out/mute" in gpe, why make it "amp - pitch - CLOSE - filter - lfo" in pad edit?

and here is some strange behvious i found, not sure if it's bugs...
if you assign a sample to an audio-track, some pads trigger the sequence play, stop, play start.
and in trim mode i think pad 05 to 08 trigger a looped sample to play constantly.

well well, i think that's all. i love the new os, this is just a collection of stuff i wanted to share while i was sitting on my mpc last week.
bye

i guess you're talking about pad locate :

As for my thoughts on OS2, I've bought it when it was cheaper but I'm not yet using it coz I'm waiting for NDC to be totally operationnal.

I'm curious, as i just picked up the OS AFTER the price went up, what currently, makes it not as operational? I would like to use NDC more completely.

cosign. this is very confusing. we can just hit WINDOW again to go back to where we were, so the CLOSE tab is not really needed.

you can use it already but if you want to integrate it in a program you have to do it manually, which is time consuming. As I need a better chop and improved audio tracks I'm not in a hurry to use it now.

Oh yeah! you mean like how it doesn't auto assign slices to pads like the destructive chop does. Yes, I too find this time consuming.

I forgot how to request features from JJ, so i appended it to my previous bug report about NDC exceeding 31 slices.

I like "click"where it is, use it way more often than T.C.

For NDC, use this:
+1
being able to convert chops to real slices would be nice too!

while we´re waiting try nyms assigning techniques, saved me hours:

example for 16 chops:
- set chops
- create pgm
- gpe, activate "whole" and set the range to A01-A16
- set the sample
- go to "chop" and set it to 16, now the bank A pads are assigned to the 16th chop of the sample
- decrease the range of "whole" to A01-15
- set "chop" to 15
- decrease the range of "whole" to A01-14
- set "chop" to 14
...
