purge vs turn off/turn on

Hello,
I have ten folders with 50 wavs in each folder.
I think the easiest way to create programs is to load one folder of sounds, assign the sounds to the pads from GPE or Program screen, save program, turn off, turn on, repeat. This prevents me from needing to scroll through so many sounds every time I'm assisgning a sound to a pad.
The goal is to make good programs in the fastest possible time. The other goal is to create a program that only uses 10 of the 50 sounds to keep the program small so it will load and save quickly, + so I can load a lot of programs before running out of ram.
Does anyone have any work arounds or better ways to do this?
I know that purge is slow, and I do recall one forumite had a way to reset the machine without turning it off and on.
I also believe that JJ never programmed any auto assign a folder to consecutive pads, I'm on JJ OS 4.99

do a 'save all memory' as soon as you turn on the mpc

that will save a blank slate and you can load that instead of turning the machine off and back on

pretty sure that's the workaround you're looking for

Yes, I've made a template.prg with normal note numbers.

same here, my blank template has one program called vsti, it has midi notes from 35-98 across the pads.
