is the jj os really that good for th 2500

yes. but you'll see that you won't switch back once you try it.

there's an FAQ topic in the MPC1000 JJ OS forum that will answer many questions you may have. even though the 1000 and the 2500 are different in many ways, the JJ OS is similar for both machines. so you'll find these FAQs very relevant...

You need to buy the password for OS1 before you can buy a password for OS2.

That pricing scheme is wack. It's like buying, windows 2000 first in order to be able to install XP.... seriously.

I'm considering making the switch but I read somewhere that you lose the Direct Record feature, which I think is a pretty dope feature. Is it true, Can someone way out the pro's and con's for me? thanks.

direct record is replaced with audio track, which as we've just discovered offers a really really powerful technique for building coarse or fine (Depending on how much time you want to spend on it) groove templates for the mpc.

audio tracks are not triggered by pads
there are pros of audio tracks, and pros of direct record. either more, you gain far more than you lose with os2
