I've been sampling single tones from old nintendo games and creating instrument programs with them. It's been working well and the sounds are easy to loop cleanly, but I've run into a dead end.
I wanted to recreate the sound of a short stab- say, a triangle wave whose second half is suddenly at a lower velocity- no fade. using the mpc's ADSR would sound too unrealistic. It has to sound like it's decaying in choppy steps, know what I mean? So I sampled the tone and resampled it at full velocity and then at half velocity right afterward, via main out. Then I chopped the new sample in half and turned it into a patched phrase. Now, by going to trim I can match the Tempo of my new sample with my beat and play melodies in 16 levels. How can I accomplish this in an instrument program? It seems that when I've set it up chromatically the tempo of the pp sample gets faster as I go up the keys. I suppose I could sum this up in fewer words, but I just wanna make myself clear. If anyone can help me that would be awesome!
