How often do people find OS 2 to be crashing in comparison to OS 4? I'm using 4.99 and it still crashes while saving sometimes. Crashing while saving drives me stark raving mad - I almost threw my MPC across the room the other day.

I'm pretty sure I did it with the original OS. I'll try formatting it with JJ's and see if that helps.

tbh crashes are quite a distant memory now, using OS2 lately, but also heavily been using OS1 4.99 before that.

both quite stable really.

i never had problems while saving,

but some freezings with jj os1 and 2 , details in the post (does ur mpc sometimes freeze ?)but i am not shure if it s a hardware issue due to the third prty ram i had
for a long time, or maybe a weak processor, defective hardware,i ve to make
some more tests.

i've felt like throwing my computer across the room countless times, but never my 1000. Thats one of the reasons i like it so much is that it's a dedicated piece of hardware, unlike a computer which is much more likely to send me on a killing spree of frustration and madness  .
I've only ever had my 1k freeze when i had a problem with my load screen from the cf card, that was just a bent pin in the cf card slot.
So this sounds very weird to me indeed.
I've stuck the words "have you saved recently" in big letters just under my monitors to remind me, and try to save after any small changes at all in my tracks, although this can be quite time consuming sometimes i must admit.

after makin some tests i found out that my mpc dont like hd s or cf cards with more than 2 gb !!!
i had an cf card with 4 gb what causes random hang ups and crashes with crazy sounds
when i put an smaller cf card in 256mb to 2 gb it s rock stable,
no more freezings! like before
maybe i ve one of the earlier blue mpc s not supporting more than 2 gb???
i ve seen there are at least 2 or three bios eeproms inside.....
did someone had similar issues???
