Reverting between the JJ OS & regular

Hi,

I recently bought my mpc1000 from someone who had already installed the JJ OS. I read somewhere that you could switch between the two OS's and I was wondered if anyone knew how to do this.

I want to revert of the original Akai one because Im still new to the MPC so It would help if I could go through the manual and figure out how to do the basics before using a new OS.

Any help would be much appreciated.

before you go back(wards) to the Akai, there is a manual available for the JJOS. Also, the JJOS switching, only works between JJOS1 and JJOS2.

you must not get back to akai os. seriously.

don't waste your time. all of the basics covered in the Akai manual are still applicable to the JJ OS. just reference the akai manual when something confuses you.

and you do know there is a manual for the JJ OS, right? check the stickies at the top of this forum.

BUT i think this kind of switching feature could be useful sometimes, if you need to work with an akai OS project (started by someone else for example) or someone working with akai OS needs to borrow your gear... or smth... but maybe that's quite hypothetic situations

Okay thanks, as someone that hasn't really used the original akai os, is the JJ that much better. I've seen the charts showing differences in functions but in terms of usuability is it any better? I'll check out the manual.

Also still just in case I need to for some reason is there a way to revert back to the old OS.

also how can you tell which version of the JJ is installed if you didn't do it yourself. When I load up the MPC is says its version 4.73?

Yes, it's much better that the original OS.

You can revert to the old OS by going to the AKAI pro web site and DL 2.11 and follow the instructions in the book for install. May be on the site also. Look for the FAQ sections.
