Questions about grid edit

So what is this for anyways? just to see your notes being played? when i was using the free version of jjos the grid edit had move functions and some other stuff but i dont see that for the 4.99 ver. What do u guys use it for and how can it help me out??

personally i dont use it as an input device, the one on the main page of os2 is good for seeing events per track, but its mainly a reference tool for me.

while in grid edit, put over dub on and you get all the edit, delete, copy, move functions.
i've been finding it very useful of late.

Tried it,All i saw was t.c.,click,loop and paste

RTFM - fo real. I spent dozens of hours creating it!

i find grid edit good for more complex arrangement of hi hats and stuff like that! its also very helpful for helping you sort out mistakes in your patterns.
If you look at an album like the first Gnarls Barkley, some of the hi hat arrangements are pretty complex, and is useful for doing stuff like that.
Its more of a visual guidance aid

that roll thing in guru vst is dope for hihats, i was watching that d. ramirez video on youtube of him using it.

It all depends on what you're trying to do and how you work - some people will get on a lot better with a visual representation of a pattern. It gives you a nice all-in-one overview of your sequence, and if you're used to simply "working by ear" you might find that trying out grid edit gives you some new ideas, or at least leads to some new variations. And vice-versa, of course.

It's like one of Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies - if you're stuck on a track that you're composing by ear, try switching to grid edit for a while. And if you start to feel the grid burning into your corneas, switch to manual and compose in real time,

Can someone explain how to move a note in grid edit...I have tried the way the manual says for jj os1 ver 4.99 but still having trouble...Cant see any MOVE options when I hold the shift key...Any help is greatly appreciated....posting.php?mode=reply&f=25&t=99029&sid=cfcc899d9c7bd01c1ffce0bb1052eda2#

Have you tried this? In Grid Mode hit the Numeric button. This will bring you to a loop pattern mode that is capable of using the pads in the way you are requesting. If you have trouble, I'll try to walk you through when I get off of work tonight... Great feature.
