broken CF reader = no JJOS??

Couple pins in my flash card reader broke. Rather than fixing it and having it break again (which it certainly would because I tour with it and those pins are so **** fragile), I installed a hard drive. Now I'm getting the "wrong file" message in Akai's OS, so I want to switch to JJ, but is there no way to do this with a broken flash drive? Why can't I install it from the Akai's HDD?

Well, the reason there's stuff you can't do in the Akai OS is basically because Akai sux.

That aside, I don't believe Akai ever implemented OS updating from the file load screen the way JJ does. You could try it anyway -- highlight the file and see if it gives you the "do it" option. Otherwise the WINDOW key/POWER ON bootblock method always defaults to the CF. That's just the way the hardware is set up.

If you get the CF fixed I would just leave a card in there and never take it out again.

I hate the fact that they give us the option to switch them out but its SOOOO easy to break pins. flowers wakai.

It worked - just selected the file and pressed "DO IT". Now have JJOS and didn't need to fix the shitty CF reader.

Oh good -- I tried to get conformation about that from somebody else with a similar prob but they never got back and I assumed it didn't work. I guess I could have found out myself by reloading Akai but... nah.

Glad that's sorted and we know for sure now.
