Chopping on the 500

i always chop on the 500 - i try to use the computer as little as possible. usually its only for transferring files.
when i started chopping on the 500 it was tedious and very slow. but you build up little shortcuts like ssnedden said, and eventually ull be able to chop fairly quickly. i usually go up/down the digits in 1000s till im pretty close to the cut point, then move into the 100s for finer precision. i dont go any more precise than that.

and also yea i dont worry too much about the end points, cos the mute groups and MONO functions take care of that.

i like 'laxin out on the couch and making a beat from start to finish, not having to move up go to the computer, chop, transfer to cf card and then make the beat. i usually set aside certain days where all i do is digg for samples and load them into the cd card, and then ill chop manually in the 500 when i go to make the beat

if you have fruityloops it can make your life really easy. works best wit hthe newest fl aswell.


just make sure you have it set up so you can sample from your comp to your mpc.

open the sample in edison in fruityloops, and just highlight the section that you want, and record it into the mpc, and just repeat that. its so easy and fast, and precise too
