Using foot switch to trigger next sequence in a song?

Sorry if this question has been addressed elsewhere (I searched the forum first, and yes I've read the goddamn POS manual, before posting here).

Here's what I want to accomplish, in the simplest possible terms:

I'm playing live on stage along with a sequence, I hit a footswitch, and the MPC changes to a different sequence. (E.g., moves to the next sequence in a song, or whatever).

Now that's not too effing much to ask is it?

I understand I'll need some kind of MIDI capable footswitch to accomplish this but I do NOT want to use a giant MIDI pedal board to accomplish this simple task. I want to use a little footswitch with at most three buttons. My rig is complicated enough as is.

Seriously tho, I would doubt there is a way to midi map a foot switch to just a sequence change... I mean I could be wrong being I never tried it but I'd say the odds are slim at best.

Ok so the 500 doesn't have a footswitch. ''boo hoo, what do I do?'' I'll tell ya. Take the 500 and you make it the slave to a master device that has a footswitch. BAM!

Is that so effing hard?

coldsnap: if i'm recording then fine, I'll use the data wheel. if I'm onstage playing a mile a minute, then yeah, I'd rather not have to take my hands off the instrument to jog a data entry wheel in the middle of a song

ill green: Make the MPC500 a slave to a master MIDI device with a footswitch? Yes of course, that's exactly what I'm trying to do. In fact I'm already slaving the MPC500 to an RC50 loopstation, which works fine for triggering start/stops and for tempo control. The problem is that I have no idea what MIDI message I need to send the MPC500 in order to a) select a different sequence or b) select the next/prev sequence in a song. AFAIK the manual doesn't provide any clues.

Yea I was being a sarcastic a-hole about the data wheel but that aside I still have my doubts your gonna get that mapped out but if you do please post how you went about it... I've suddenly developed a interest in this topic I'll still use the effing data wheel though, even on stage, that's skillz man hahahaa
