MPC500 Power Supply (Plug size?)

Sinamatik - I'm in Australia so I feel you on the whole adapter issue (I got my MPC while in Japan). All I did was go to the local electronics shop and buy a Digitor AC International Adapter - which is basically a power plug to go into the wall with a 1.5m cord and a "female" end to the cord which you can then plug any of the included male plug ends into.

the pic there shows a whole lot of "plug ends" which you can plug into the end of the cord to make it fit into your MPC500.

The important thing to know is that (and I'm not an electronics guy so this is going to sound really basic) - on each of the "plug ends" you can choose from there is an arrow which indicates whether the polarity of the power source is positive or negative. On the MPC500 it is negative, so on my cord I have the "plug end" which best fits the MPC500 power adapter hole, and the arrow on this plug end is pointing to the "-" sign on the end of the cord.

I don't have a ruler with me here, but the silver end of my plug (which goes into the MPC500) is a fraction longer than the width of a USB stick head (so approx 1.3cm).

just re-read your original post - if you hold my plug and look into the end of it, the hole you see is the same width as one of the holes on the top of a USB plug.

also the specs sheet on your plug says

* Output centre port positive - reversible


this is what I was trying to talk about earlier - centre port is negative on mine.

(12 months of use works 100% no problems at all).

yo i forgot about this thread. after months of f'n around and getting faulty products from mpc-parts and whatnot, i just went to the electronics store and got a generic adapter which you could attach different size adapters and it worked fine. havent used batteries ever since

damn! should have read the dates and realised this was bumped up by spam.

Also for those that do use Batteries:

Click MODE then OTHER then scroll to LOW BAT. WARNING and youc an change it so you get your low battery warning with enough time to save your project

i use rechargables, and unfortunately they don't tell you when they are gonna run out

lol forgot rechargeables go from working to all-the-way-dead in like 5 seconds flat with no "Almost dead" time :/
