MPC 500, Sound Etc. Plz help if possible

so i record into my computer through audacity, when i turn the track to mono it goes real low, then i have to amplifi it, then it sounds like shit pretty much, same thing with garage band...

is there a program out there i can record into that doesnt fuk with the sound so it stays golden and not so i have to amplifi and louden it all the time eventually ending up sounding less good than at the beginning without it being recorded into the comp yet...

You might want to try recording right into the 500 it is a sampler after all.
If you dont like chopping on the 500 chop it in audacity.
