mpc500 entry level?

looking at the description of this forum "for the entry level MPC"

is the 500 even entry level?

It's a bit more convuluted, it's not really straight forward like a bunch more of the MPCs. is it really entry level?

I dont think the 500 would be a good first mpc for many people. maybe 1000 or 2kxl(probably 2kxl the best entry level?)

It seems more a drum machine that's just got too many pages to get access to paramater, and it's not the most intuitive interface.

why would it be entry level? based on cost?

should it be more like "battery powered mpc"

compared to an mpc60 or 3k, it does pretty much the same shit. or maybe even compared to a 2kxl? same shit with usb and more portable...

If u're new to mpc's and beatmaking the mpc500 looks/feels quite safe.
Low costs, so the risk of loosing a lot of money is small in case u don't like it.
Plus the 500 is relatively new.

fewer pads + fewer features + lower cost + smaller screen= entry level.

She's still a beast for it's size and capabilities. Very good to learn your way around how MPC's generally work.

all i'm saying is that the mpc500 isn't good entry level because the interface is convuluted and harder to access. easier to learn on another machine and go to a mpc500 after.

It should not be about costs. I agree with u that the other mpc models are easier to learn from. However, if u can find ur way around the 500 it should not be a problem to get familiair with the other mpcs when it's time for an upgrade.

definitely agree. I find that with all MPCs though, once you know one, you pretty much know them all.

I tried to geti nto the roland mv8000 but i couldn't wrap my head around it all.

mpc1000 or 2kxl I think is easier to dive in and undrestand than the 500 though. If i didn't know from other MPCs how it worked the 500 would be pretty difficult.

This is also coming from somone who really hates reading manuals. lol... probably woulda loved the mv8000 if i read the damn manual...

You could have said the same thing about the 1000 had you never used an MPC before.

I think its more convoluted TO YOU because you have used the other machines. But if you had never used any other MPC models before- would you still say it's convoluted? probably not, because have nothing to compare it too

except for a few first timers to the MPC even saying that. actually the reason why i'm using a 500 now is because of that. a friend of mine found it too menuey

and i agree it really is. It's not apparant. and if you're going to spend so much time learning it, might as well just use software, more flexible, more cost effective....

I can have a computer do everything for me also. doesn't mean i'm going to...:p

I like to enjoy myself when making music, there's no rush:-)
