Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi all,

I'm new in this forum. I just got the mpc 500 and I'm trying to sample wav files. In older post I've read that the wav files have to be in 44.100 kHz, 16 bit, mono....but this seems to be a problem.

I've tried to convert files using multiple progams (such as Switch Sound File Converter, Audacity, WavePad Sound Editor) - the mpc loads the wav files, but somehow they don't appear when I want to assign them (pressing "params" -> program assign etc.) I can load them, but I cannot assign them.

In the mentioned programs I 've tried almost everything. But I can't select the "44.100 kHz" option. There is just an "44.100 HZ" option to select.

Can anyone help, please??? :(

Thanks!

When you load the files from the MPC500 into the computer, are the files good there?

It could be a glitch, but 44 Hz is alot to render. Check your computer too to see if its saving them as mp3. The MPC probably isn't reading them.

My computer is saving the files as normal wav files. It's strange...as I said, I can load the files (the mpc loads them for sure - the file names are displayed). But when I want to assign them, they just don't appear.

And by the way, I just can load and assign samples coming from the "MPC Sound Library". I've loaded some other drum kits onto the mpc and I cannot assign them neither.... :(

Thanks!

sometimes you can´t hear nothing if you don´t hit the pad hard enough on the 500 as this MPC ain´t as loud as the other MPCs

to solve this always make sure to turn on the full level button before assigning to the pads.

if the wavs are loaded in trim mode you must be able to assign to any pad, also make sure your on the right bank (a,b,c,d)

Hi all!

The full level button is on and I've checked every pad bank. But it still won't play the samples.

However I can hear them in trim mode...but I still can't assign the samples to the pads :(

Any idea???

Thanks for your help guys!

hit mode + program

than scroll to assign,go down and scroll through the sounds, hit a pad and than full level.

if this does not work, you´ve got a bug or something...reboot the mpc with OS 1.31 from the website.

hey!

I've already updated to OS 1.31...

Assigning samples to the pads hitting "mode" + "program" now works (thanks a lot!!!).....

but there is still something wrong. the samples still won't appear when I do the following:

- press "mode + load"
- select the folder I want to load
- press "do it"
- press "track"
- press "params" -> the folder which I loaded before should appear here, or am I wrong?!

I've also tried to create a new program, format the CF card etc....but it doesn't work :(

The loaded folder with the wav files should appear in the "Program select field", right?

Example for loading a drum kit coming from the Akai Sound Library:

Program assign
Tr: A1: Y9000 Kit

The drum kit already sounds by hitting the pads. So I should be able to select my uploaded folder with my wav files in the same way, right?

Well, after creating a PGM file, the mpc now shows my folder in the "Program select field". But I can't play them by hitting the pads....

Is there a bug or something? It should work the same way like the drum kit example, right?

There prob ain´t no bug...

forget about the presets, remove them..first turn autoload off.

record some samples, assign to pads and create a lil sequence, than safe to internal memory both the sequence and the program.

now u erased the wack presets. (turn autoload on again and make a new folder for the cf card.)
