How to track out your MPC-500

It's not hard at all if you try this method:

1. set the computer sequencer project tempo to the same as the mpc project

2. hit metronome button on the mpc, go to count-in, select Rec+Play (now the mp give u a 4 beat tick before even playback begins).

3. track out your tracks 1 by 1 with that count in track playing followed by your music into your computer sequencer, muting each new computer track when it's done recording.

4. once all your tracks have been recorded into computer sequencer, line up the first tick of each recorded track by zooming in to the max and dragging the track around with no grid align until it's right on the money.

5. select all tracks and put a cut across all tracks right before the first metronome click

6. select all tracks and drag them (with grid snap set to bar) to the nearest bar or wherever you want the song to start.

7. select all recorded tracks and put a cut after the last metronome click or at the bar where your beat starts and delete the metronome clicks

now your beat should be time aligned to the computer sequencer project, with all tracks or parts from the mpc playing in sync with each other.

yeah i think a lot people do the "tick method" or just record each track once (like the 4 bar seq once) then just copy and paste instead of going track by track for the whole song.

If you want to record a full sequence with separeted tracks you could

mute the volume on everything except the track you wish to record.

and then just go on from there. but this requires a midi connection between your mpc and your recorder.
