No, the 128MB CF card is just for storage of data of samples and programs so you can save and load to the 500 or computer. A 128MB RAM is what you need to expand the internal memory so when you load up your kits it can consume more than the stock 16MB RAM. You're probably loading up a huge kit and thats why the 500 isn't gonna eat all of it.
Google 128MB RAM for MPC500 and you'll find a few sellers that provide.
