MPC 500 Metronome

Hi I am a new mpc 500 owner. I have been using it since christmas and i am loving it. But I have a problem. When I am making a beat with my kicks and snares I will record it and make it play back but when the beat plays back it does not sound like what I recorded. Does this mean my timing is off? And is there a way I can record with no metronome just free style?

Check your timing correction settings. If you want the MPC to record exactly what you've played (timing wise), you'll have to turn off timing correction (quantize).

Regarding the metronome, you can turn it on/off for several situations... "in rec" (while recording), "in play" (while it's playing), and "count in" (when it counts in before the recording starts).

It's all in your MPC500 manual. Open it... read it! These are very basic questions and the answers can be found in the manual within a few minutes... don't expect to be spoon fed here (no offense).

I play without the metronome and without timing correct, in fact I don't care about the BPMs, I just record to my hearts content. These are basic set ups in your MPC, read that manny manual or suck the real guy off.
