Thinking about switching to mpd's...

I've had my mpc 500 for a few months now and though I like it, I feel like anything you can do on the mpc 500 you can do with an mpd and logic (which is what I use). I just think the mpc is a very tedious process in making and editing full songs and though you can get smooth sequences, from there, theres not much control over the song. Can someone argue with me so I can see if I want to sell my mpc for an mpd 26, this would also save around $350. What does the mpc have over the combination of mpd and logic?

I feel ya... a friend of mine has that exact same issue with his 500....

now, I use a few of the other models and I will say because of the larger screens it is easier to do song building. Okay sure, the process is pretty much similar but it feels less smashed onto those little character based LCD lines.

The thing that sets me off is too much multi functioning for all the buttons and pads... it just feels crammed.

I still go through periods where I use software more than my mpc. I always come back to the mpc though. The 500 is this weird beast and I've gone through the following phases with it during the last few years. It's really difficult right out of the gate if you've never used an MPC. At the same time, it feels very limited when you compare it to the myriad of software options. Then it becomes like a musical instrument, where you really don't even need the screen that much. You load your samples, start really playing them. Start doing crazy shit with effects and track mutes and Qlink slider and it just works. I think the simplicity in the last phase is what has really brought me back to it. I've got a card with tons of samples I've developed. And I can just go to the coffee shop and rock out. My advice is keep it...and get a cheap controller as well. I don't know what the MPD26 pads are like, but if they're anything like the MPC 500 I think you can do better.

You abandon your own threads.

Go back and look for yourself; if you read (and respond) to the replies maybe you wouldn't find the 500 such a struggle.

I think you should hop off my threads and go on with your day. All you do is criticize the threads I write and appear to be more of an **** than a "moderator." I never said I hated the the mpc ever, so that statement is false. And the questions I have asked were mostly answered by people and I figured them out, just didnt feel the need to say anymore when it was no longer a problem. People did help me out, I abandoned them because they have the answers in them. What kind of musician are you to criticize everything I do on this site? What good is a forum where you can't ask questions because the "moderator" doesnt like them and will lock them. Get new moderators mpc-forum

What about the MPC500 and Logic?? You know that the 500 can be used as a controller too right??
