No SOund - Only when recorded

Hello. I have a rather strange issue with my MPC500.
I am a newbie so my issue may be rudimentary or it may be case of a broken MPC, i wonder if some of the more proficient users could help me.

I have an MPC500
When i have samples loaded to my pads, no sound comes out of the headhones or main output when i hit the pads. Although if i record some random hitting of the pads, without hearing what im doing, and then press play to hear back, the hits have registered and the pattern is played

Does this seem recogniseable to anyone. I hope it is just a case of me overlooking my settings.

Good idea but I think he would hear the sounds, if you don't press hard enough during full level being off, the sound only records as hard as you hit it.

Check your Master level and see what that is. I had to turn mine up most of the way to hear it the best. I think the unit comes set at -12 or something. I believe "0" is the highest

The volume is up and the full Level is on.

It is recognising the pads as i can hear what i have tapped when i play back the recorded loop. I just cant hear it when playing it.

The mpc is just sat in a box, as i cant use it.
Any suggestions as to who i can ask about it?

All in all, before you send it out for repairs, try to download the latest OS 1.31 from akaipro.com and reboot the system. If the problem persists then take it back from where it came from and exchange it, if not then get a refund and buy it somewhere else. I buy gear from musician's friend because they have a 45 day trial, if I'm not satisfied with it I just send it back and try another piece.

But your problem sounds like a major bug.

Mine was also broken brand new out of the box until I upgraded the OS..

sorry for pushing this old thread but... I'm facing that problem mentioned in the topic: No sounds on pads - only when recorded

I tried to overwrite the OS, 'cause I already had 1.31 on it. didn't work.
Anyone got another thought on that.

I fixed the Problem - I tried to overwrite the OS and all that stuff, but forgot to try factory reset :/

I did so and it worked fine!

Having the same problem with a used MPC 3000 (like new) that i purchased. Would someone mind posting how to solve this step by step. For example, if I needed to do a factory reset, what are the exact steps in order to accomplish this. Sorry, I looked in the manual and online and cannot find any reference for a factory reset. Lastly, the links to the OS 1.31 are not working. Is there a link to the most current OS as well as instructions on how to install it available? Thanks in advance for any help.
