Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey I'm trying to record basslines that I play on my akai miniak into my mpc 500's midi sequencer. The problem is it's playing the samples that are assigned to the pads that are assigned to the midi notes on the miniak. So when I play a note on the miniak it'll trigger a snare for example. I tried just reassigning the midi notes on the mpc to keys i wouldn't be playing but I essentially play all the keys of the miniak at least once in all of my songs so i'd have to rechange every pad's assigned midi note after playing each song live. I would just like for it to not play the samples but only play the basslines. Is this possible?
thanks

Tell the miniak to only play local keys/sounds. Is that somewhere in your manual? Both my kybds can do this, maybe your kybd can too, I don't know the miniak but check your manual.

update: Chapter 7 pg47 explains local control.
I just took a quick look, but it's up to you to put it to work..

ok i asked my friend who also has an mpc and he answered my question. i feel pretty dumb now but apparently you can turn off the program for a track so that it doesn't play any sample but still plays midi info. so yeah i just turned the program off for the track that has the midi bassline and pouf, problem solved. thanks for the help anyways man
