How do you mount a MPC500 to your PC after a 128MB upgrade?

Everything was fine until the upgrade. When I connected my 500 with the USB to my PC it would automatically recognize the MPC. However, since I added the 128MB its like my PC forgot who MPC500 was .

Anyway, not a total noob, so I downloaded the latest OS from Akai, and have the BIN saved on my desktop ready to go.

My question is how do I get the BIN on my new 2GB CF Card since my computer can't find my MPC as a recognizable device? I am new to mounting drives, so if this is what is required, could some kind soul please walk me through it.

hmm so if you remove the ram and then try to usb-connect it, it works? Make sure it's properly fitted and your device is otherwise working.

Everything is fine with the RAM, the MPC accepted it, and it works.

One thing I didn't mention though:
My computer and the MPC acknowledge the USB connection.
It shows on the view screen "USB Connected".
The weird thing, is when I read the instructions about upgrading, it mentioned something about holding down a button and then turning on the power (at work, and not at my MPC or instructions right now).
When I did that it said something about "OS not found".

Another odd thing, I created a folder on a drive at one point, and somehow it moved over to the MPC anyway. It was an empty file, so it didn't play anything back.

I am guessing it downloaded onto my CF card, because now I can't find it anywhere on my PC.

There's an instruction in the "How to" that says in capital letters something about "DO NOT TURN OFF MPC..." I followed that when I did mine but I assume turning it off during installation will erase your OS and leave you w/o one (which would be bad obviously) but, unless I read you wrong, you haven't gotten to that point yet. Correct?
To update your OS you have to connect the PC & MPC via USB, drop the UNZIPPED file into your MPC CF card (will work exactly like a thumb-drive or external HDD) but DO NOT put it in a folder (just drop the UNZIPPED file into the MPC's card, which will be acting like any other storage device).


After that follow the installation instruction, which go something like:
Disconnect USB > turn MPC off > Turn on MPC while holding "Load" (or whatever button it was) > wait for it to install and DO NOT TURN IT OFF WHILE OS IS INSTALLING > MPC auto-restarts > turn off MPC for at least 30 seconds > Turn MPC back on while holding yet another button... bla bla bla. Don't install it unless you have the actual instructions in front of you because this obviously isn't the exact step by step but you get the idea.
