Mpc 500 > Mpc 1000 & MV 8000

Been checking this site & mvnation for quite some time since I have a mpc 1000 (very nice) & a mv 8000 (beast!)
Got a chance to get a cheap used 500 2 days ago and I can already tell you now it's my favorite piece of gear.
This little thing looks like a toy but it's a weapon. Guess it's true what they say: less is more.

Yeah, I originally bought the 1000. I worked on it for a few days and had one eye on the 500. I bought the 500 and compared them for a couple of days. Sent the 1000 back. They say the 500 lacks some major features. I say, yes it does.

Musically, it has all the same features. I find samples on the 500 that I'd never find when I'm autochoping or looking at a waveform.

It's smaller than my laptop. Hanging out in my car making music at lunch. Yeah! I'd never get half my work done if I had to be in a studio to do it. These days the 500 is my entire studio when it comes to electronic music. I was amazed at what I can do with this thing once I figured it out. Mixing, mastering, the entire process.

Now on the flipside, once I get some cash together, I might grab a 5000 so I can get the hard disk recording. That would be nice for working with vocalists and instrumentalists in a studio. Then again, I might just get a multi-tracker or just use garageband on my mac and save my money. I'd still be making tracks on a 500.

Yeah, all the basics of the MPC are in the 500 and its powerful. People who say its a toy don't even make beats because when you're passionate enough about making beats, you'll try whatever is on the market just to enjoy beat-making and find that soulmate. And if there ever was a toy sampler on the market, please let me know, I would flip something on that too.
